Austin Public Health offering 3 vaccine clinics during August

Austin Public Health is marking National Immunization Awareness Month with a series of three community vaccine clinics scheduled throughout August. The clinics are open to residents who need routine vaccinations, including childhood immunizations, flu shots, and COVID-19 boosters.

The first clinic is set for the second week of August at the Rundberg Health Center, with the other two planned for later in the month at the St. John Health Center and the Northeast Public Health Center. All clinics will operate on a walk-in basis from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and no appointment is required. However, officials recommend bringing an insurance card if available, though uninsured residents will not be turned away.

Health department staff say the goal is to catch up on shots that may have been delayed during the pandemic. They are especially encouraging parents to bring children who are behind on school-required vaccines before the fall semester begins. Adults needing tetanus boosters or shingles shots are also welcome.

Free parking is available at all three locations, and translators will be on site for Spanish and Vietnamese speakers. For those who cannot attend, Austin Public Health continues to offer vaccines by appointment at its main office. The department also reminds residents that immunization records can be requested online or by phone.
