Second Measles Case of 2026 Confirmed by Wyoming Department of Health

The Wyoming Department of Health has confirmed a new case of measles in the state, marking the second infection of the year. The patient is an unvaccinated adult living in Teton County. Health officials say the virus is highly contagious and can lead to serious complications, especially in people who have not been vaccinated or who have weakened immune systems.

According to the department, members of the public may have been exposed to the virus at specific locations in Grand Teton National Park. The possible exposure sites include the Cafe Court Pizzeria and the Ranch House Restaurant, both located in the Colter Bay Village area. Anyone who visited these places during the identified time window should watch for symptoms and contact a healthcare provider if they develop a fever, cough, runny nose, or a red rash.

Measles spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Symptoms typically appear seven to 14 days after exposure. The Wyoming Department of Health is working with local partners to notify people who may have been in close contact with the patient. Officials are urging residents to check their vaccination records and to get the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine if they have not already done so.
