The findings show that a large number of adolescents and young adults are reporting serious health issues that they directly link to a warming environment. Among the most common complaints are worsening respiratory illnesses, more frequent heat-related conditions like severe dehydration and heat exhaustion, and a general decline in overall physical health.

But the impact goes beyond the body. The survey also highlights a significant rise in anxiety and stress among the youth, who feel increasingly powerless in the face of unpredictable weather patterns, prolonged heatwaves, and the slow pace of meaningful action. Many respondents said they worry about their future, their ability to study or work outdoors, and the long-term habitability of their own communities. The report suggests that this is not just a passing concern but a constant underlying pressure that shapes daily decisions, from when to go outside to how they plan their careers.

Experts say the findings should serve as a wake-up call for policymakers. While Malaysia has pledged to reduce carbon emissions, young people are already living with the consequences of inaction. The survey calls for stronger climate adaptation measures in schools and public spaces, as well as better access to mental health support for those most affected. Without urgent steps, the report warns, a generation could grow up feeling both physically unwell and deeply disillusioned with the systems meant to protect them.
