LITTLE ROCK -- The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health Barbershop Talk research team is set to host a free event titled "Beyond the Field, Real Talk on Health, Success and Life After the Game." The gathering will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 19, at the Robinson Center.
The panel aims to open up honest conversations about men's health, covering topics that often go unspoken in everyday settings. Organizers say the event will focus on physical well-being, mental health, and the transition from athletic careers to everyday life. By bringing together former athletes, health professionals, and community members, the discussion is meant to break down barriers that keep men from seeking medical care or talking about their struggles.
The Barbershop Talk initiative is known for meeting men where they already gather, using barbershops as a trusted space for health education. This special edition at the Robinson Center expands that model to a larger public forum. Admission is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
